Description

The Huehuetenango Department is located near Guatemala’s border with Mexico. Coffee is grown at elevations between 1,200 and 1,700 metres above sea level, where the average temperature is about 23oC and the humidity around 75%. The coffee plants are protected from frost by the dry, hot winds from the Tehuantepec plain in Mexico.

The coffee cherries are harvested between December and April.

The SHB (Strictly Hard Bean) grading for this coffee indicates that it was grown at an elevation higher than 1,350 metres above sea level. The higher elevation bean is ‘harder’ (more dense) and is thus considered of a premium quality.
